WHAT ARE DENTAL CROWNS?

Teeth with significant damage or tooth decay can be fixed using dental crowns. Our team proudly provides these dental restorations to Lake Oswego, OR patients to help strengthen and protect the visible area of a damaged tooth while returning it to its original size and shape. Crowns are made to blend evenly with your existing teeth for a seamless appearance. They can be attached to single implants to replace individual missing teeth or combined into a unit to function as a bridge. Contact Contemporary Dental Health The Center for Advanced Dentistry to arrange a consultation with our practitioners to find out if dental crowns can restore your smile.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM DENTAL CROWNS?

Dental crown procedures generally take more than one visit. At your first appointment, one of our dentists will numb the treatment area and may use sedation to ensure your comfort. After clearing away the damaged tooth structure, we’ll take an impression of the tooth to create your personalized crown. A lifelike temporary crown will cover the treated tooth to allow for normal dental function while your custom crown is being made. You should come back to our office in 1 – 2 weeks to have the temporary crown removed and the custom crown bonded to your tooth or implant post.

After your custom crown is in place, we’ll smooth it out so your bite is even and comfortable. Our team will talk to you about how to properly care for your crown. When you visit for regular exams at our Lake Oswego, OR practice, our dentists will examine your crown and overall oral health. Crowns should help preserve your tooth’s function and appearance for years when properly cared for. If it ever feels loose or falls off, we urge you to contact Contemporary Dental Health The Center for Advanced Dentistry (do not try to fix it yourself).
